Byron Outten Memorial Scholarship awarded to 2 Woodbridge Seniors, Xavier Dunaway and Denilson Velasquez-Mendez

Seely Homes, LLC was pleased to present two scholarships to deserving seniors at the annual Woodbridge High School Senior Awards Night on Wednesday, May 24, 2023.

The first recipient, in addition to his academic success, participated in varsity lacrosse, wrestling and track and field.  He plans to pursue training to become an HVAC technician. He is receiving a $1,000 scholarship.

Congratulations to Xavier Dunaway!

The second recipient, in addition to his academic success, participated in soccer and FFA and plans to become an Electrician. He is receiving a $500 scholarship.

Congratulations to Denilson Velasquez-Mendez!

Last year Seely Homes announced the creation of a new scholarship made available to Woodbridge High School Seniors interested in a construction-related field – the Byron Outten Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship awards the recipient funds to use towards a college, trade school, or training program of their choice. Their construction-related field of work could include, but is not limited to, studies in carpentry, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, architecture, engineering, and construction management.

This scholarship is being presented in honor of Julleanna Seely’s father who passed away in January 2022. He was a hard-working, godly man who owned and operated Byron Outten’s Plumbing Service for many years. His wife Lorna Outten and son Aaron Outten continue to operate the business.

Byron attended Woodbridge Schools and after Bible College, he spent his career as a Plumber. Before opening his own business which he owned and operated up to the time of his passing, he provided plumbing service work for a large local builder.  Byron was known throughout the community as much more than a great plumber. He was a man with a generous heart, often donating his time & talents, food, and money to clients, friends, and strangers.
