Seely Homes, an award-winning custom homebuilder in Del., Wins BBB Torch Award for Ethics

The Better Business Bureau Serving Delaware recognized Seely Homes LLC, a Bridgeville-based home builder, as a recipient of the 2025 Torch Award for Business Ethics on Thursday, May 1 at their 60th Anniversary Awards Event.

The event, hosted at DuPont Country Club in Wilmington, highlights Delaware businesses that serve their clients and community with the highest levels of service and integrity. Seely Homes represented Sussex County, as the only southern Delaware-based business to be honored at this year’s event.

BBB Torch Award

“Thank you so much for recognizing a young business in southern DE for the BBB Torch Award,” Julleanna Seely shared as she accepted the glass award along with her husband and business partner Adrain Seely in a ballroom full of about 200 guests. “We are so grateful for the incredible people on our Seely Homes team, the quality trade partners we work with, the trust of our clients, and the support of our families!”

Adrian and Julleanna Seely started Seely Homes just over five years ago, operating out of the sunroom of their Greenwood home. Since their January 2020 start, they have hired several employees, opened an office and showroom in Bridgeville, and built more than 50 homes and a few additions in Kent and Sussex Counties. Seely Homes joined the BBB in 2023 and maintain an A+ rating.

Seely Homes BBB Torch Award with Sauers

Adrian and Julleanna Seely, owners of Seely Homes, accept their Torch Award for Business Ethics from Christine R. Sauers, President of the Better Business Bureau Serving Delaware, at the BBB Annual Awards Night on May 1, 2025.

“Five years ago at this time we were in the thick of a pandemic, and Seely Homes was completing our first spec home. We thought we had chosen a bad time to start a home building business just as the world shut down,” Julleanna continued to share at the BBB event. “Turns out our timing was great and next thing we knew, we were building custom homes for people in our community… Our homes have won numerous awards from the Home Builders Association of Delaware, and we are featured in the current issue of a national publication – Modern Home Builders magazine! … Thank you BBB, we are thrilled to receive this honor!”

Christine R. Sauers, President of the BBB serving Delaware, noted Seely Homes contributions to the community, including scholarships given to local high school seniors, as positive traits of the business.

DE Governor Matthew Meyer stopped by the event to share his support of the award recipients, who he said are making Delaware better with their upstanding business practices.

Auto Team Delaware and SunnyMac Solar also received Torch Awards at the event. Aging in Place Senior Care Services earned the Thrive Award, and Hawkins and Sons Inc. accepted the Rush Award for Family Owned Business. In addition, the BBB handed out three scholarships to graduating seniors in Delaware.

According to their website, “BBB helps people find businesses that they can trust. From the northern part of Delaware in Claymont and Wilmington, to the beaches in Rehoboth Beach and farm communities in Seaford, BBB is the one place you can find it all.”
